THE RIGHT
PEOPLE
Your project is made up of people, and
the people will dictate whether the
project gets accomplished. The wrong
team will lead to laziness, excuses,
falling deadlines, bad communication,
passive-aggressiveness and overall a
failed project. The right people with the
right profiles will lead to projects being
finished on time and under budget with
a happy team. Here is some advice from
Munir Usman from Remote Interview
who has hired more than 500 remote
workers for companies:
• Choose members who have a history
of completing tasks on time. Look
carefully at deadline history and
achieving their tasks from a remote
location on time. This will be a leading
indicator that they can perform.
• Hire good writers with good communication skills. You’ll need good writers
because most of your communication
will be via chat and emailing.
• Look for a variety of personalities,
some detail oriented and some
big picture oriented—you need
different abilities.
• The number one skill of every person
on the team should be coachability.
Each team member should be open
and willing to accept feedback
from their leader and other team
members in order to improve the
team and product.
A REMOTE TEAM NEEDS
TO BE MORE
EFFECTIVE
Running a remote team has many advantages: lower
overhead, flexibility, ability to source talent from a variety
of locations and often faster response times to resolve
disastrous situations because of overlapping time zones.
With a rising number of startups and even larger
corporations opting for remote teams, here are five
things a remote team needs to be more effective.
