From the Civil War to Hurricane Katrina, Tulane University has een it all. Founded in 1834, one of the oldest higher education
institutions in the South, Tulane knows
firsthand how important it is to change
with the times. However, knowing how
important change is doesn’t make
implementing it any easier.
As change happens more rapidly than
ever, budget increases are a different
story. That was one of the biggest
challenges Tulane faced as they tried
to adapt to the new needs and
expectations of today’s students.
They needed to keep up with change
in an effective, efficient and cost-
conscious way. That’s when the
institution turned to Xerox to help
leverage commonalities and gain
efficiencies of scale, especially
when it came to workflow solutions
in print production.
“Xerox has been an incredible
partner for the university.
They always buy into our changes,
including our current focus on
mobility and downsizing.”
Mike Britt, Assistant Vice President
of University Services at Tulane University
Through Next Generation Xerox®
Managed Print Services (MPS)
and a centralized document services
center, Tulane is better able to manage
workflow, putting the institution on
track to save more than $1 million
through the course of the contract.
That’s just on the savings end.
A key part of their strategy was
security due to the growing use
of mobile technology. Along with
protecting precious student data,
Tulane needs to protect research
data from the medical and research
school. This is an area university
officials cannot compromise on.
With Xerox® ConnectKey®, documents
travel securely from one Xerox®
multifunction device to another.
This made it easier and more efficient
for security measures to become
integrated within document workflow.
In addition to solid solutions,
Xerox brings the value of a strong
partnership. As Britt discusses the
whiteboard room where everybody
hunkers down to talk about what the
university needs and how to get there,
he points out that “Xerox has proven
they can hang with us in the room.
And they’re great at integrating their
pieces with pieces from our partners.”
While Xerox brought savings,
increased security and mobility, they
also helped Tulane keep up with
rapidly changing student demands.
